Equity for ALL
As an educational and policy leader, I am committed to the pursuit of equity in our educational systems. Many recent efforts around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) have been politicized and made into something that they were never intended to be. What we know is foundational is that every single child has a different experience, and that their experience matters. When considering how children feel safe, valued, and accepted in a community, we must ensure that all people within the community understand that everyone wants and deserves to have this sense of belonging as a member of the group. Without a keen sense of equity, we cannot ensure that our children will be given every opportunity they need to be successful. This commitment takes a serious approach of addressing policies and practices that produce inequitable outcomes for our children, particularly those who are historically marginalized or underserved. I have worked hard to ensure that every student in my care receives the supportive environment necessary to ensure they have an opportunity to be successful. I am proud of my work in this area and will continue to pursue an equitable education for each child in the Novi Community School District.
